In this paper, a forward model is developed to determine the increased water surface level corresponding to GRACE observations, estimated to be about 120 m. In contrast to GRACE, the TWS derived from land surface models cannot capture the increased ΔTWS, due to the lack of reservoir routing algorithms in the models. In addition, the land subsidence was calculated using the disk load model constructed based on the GRACE-derived lake level and Landsat-derived lake extent; the result is validated with the GPS data from BIN1 station, located at the western coast of Borneo. The commencement stage of the Bakun Dam induces the large-scale land subsidence, which causes the GPS-BIN1 station to subside by ~9 mm, and move toward the Bakun Lake by ~4 mm. Computation of the surface displacements directly from GRACE spherical harmonic coefficient data fails to capture the subsidence feature, mainly due to the truncation error. Overall, this study demonstrates that evaluating GRACE in conjunction with Landsat, LSMs, and GPS data allows the exploitation of the gravity signal at a much smaller spatial scale than its intrinsic resolution. Benefiting from global coverage, the newly developed satellite-based algorithm is a valuable tool for assessing the impacts of reservoir operation on hydrological and geophysical changes from local to regional scales.]]> Tue 14 May 2024 10:25:42 AEST ]]> Fatigue characterization of functionally graded ZA27 alloy syntactic foams https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37920 Tue 14 May 2024 10:08:04 AEST ]]> Global, regional, and national burden of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, 1990-2016: a systematic analysis for the global burden of disease study 2016 https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42491 Tue 14 May 2024 10:01:10 AEST ]]> Efficiency analysis of the Simplified Refined Instrumental Variable method for Continuous-time systems https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37237 Tue 14 May 2024 09:54:20 AEST ]]> Factors associated with adherence to the muscle-strengthening activity guideline among adolescents https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37695 Tue 14 May 2024 09:47:57 AEST ]]> Defect behavior and radiation tolerance of MAB phases (MoAlB and Fe2AlB2) with comparison to MAX phases https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:39087 2AlB2, using a combination of experimental characterization and first-principles calculations. We find that Fe2,AlB2 is more tolerant to radiation-induced amorphization than MoAlB, both at 150 ℃ and at 300 ℃. The results can be explained by the fact that the Mo Frenkel pair is unstable in MoAlB and as a result, irradiated MoAlB is expected to have a significant concentration of MoAl antisites, which are difficult to anneal even at 300 ℃. We find that the tolerance to radiation-induced amorphization of MAB phases is lower than in MAX phases, but it is comparable to that of SiC. However, MAB phases do not show radiation-induced cracking which is observed in MAX phases under the same irradiation conditions. This study suggests that MAB phases might be a promising class of materials for applications that involve radiation.]]> Tue 14 May 2024 09:12:30 AEST ]]> Development and reliability testing of a nutrition knowledge questionnaire for Australian children (the CNK-AU) https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:45787 Tue 07 May 2024 09:13:10 AEST ]]> Analysis of thermotransport and thermal and ionic conductivity in doped lanthanum gallate (LSGM) using molecular dynamics https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:52101 Tue 07 May 2024 08:39:03 AEST ]]> An inequality relating fundamental parameters of horizontal slug flow pneumatic conveying https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47045 Tue 07 May 2024 08:16:05 AEST ]]> Experiment Degree Heating Week (eDHW) as a novel metric to reconcile and validate past and future global coral bleaching studies https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:46512 Thu 16 May 2024 10:32:29 AEST ]]> Feedback, dynamics, and optimal control in climate economics https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42110 Thu 02 May 2024 16:23:55 AEST ]]> Determinants of perinatal outcomes in dialyzed and transplanted women in Australia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:51367 10-fold higher odds of preterm birth and low birthweight and 1.8- to 4.6-fold increased odds of other adverse outcomes. The SOC data obtained was compared to digital elevation model (DEM) derived elevation and insolation data, as well as Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and the Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI) values corresponding to each sample site. These indices were obtained from the MODIS sensor (Terra/Aqua) and Landsat series satellites. Vegetation Indices (VI) captured immediately prior to sampling demonstrated a poor correlation with SOC. The use of multiple, aggregated, prior VI data sets provided a good match with SOC. The strongest match occurred for Landsat 8 EVI, indicating that VIs with higher spatial and spectral resolution, which can account for atmospheric interference, have the potential to produce more accurate SOC mapping (Krui samples in 2006, R2 = 0.31, P < 0.01; Krui sampled in 2014, R2 = 0.41, P < 0.01; Merriwa samples in 2015, R2 = 0.37, P < 0.01). A sensitivity test for both remote sensing platforms demonstrated that the findings were robust. The results demonstrate that VIs are a reliable surrogate for historical vegetation growth in pasture dominated landscapes and therefore soil carbon inputs allowing for mapping of SOC across large catchment scales. Both Landsat and MODIS produced similar results and demonstrate that SOC can be reliably predicted at the large catchment scale and for different catchments in this environment with RMSE range of 0.79 to 1.06. The method and data can be applied globally and provides a new method for environmental assessment.]]> Thu 02 May 2024 15:03:08 AEST ]]> Inhibition of cadmium uptake by wheat with urease-producing bacteria combined with sheep manure under field conditions https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47323 Thu 02 May 2024 14:49:33 AEST ]]> DEM-BEM coupling in time domain for one-dimensional wave propagation https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:47120 Thu 02 May 2024 12:36:05 AEST ]]> Defects in NLRP6, autophagy and goblet cell homeostasis are associated with reduced duodenal CRH receptor 2 expression in patients with functional dyspepsia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:49117 Thu 02 May 2024 12:18:23 AEST ]]> Critical sizes for PET cylindrical and hourglass shaped pores for selective ion channels https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:51063 Thu 02 May 2024 11:51:04 AEST ]]> Altimetry-derived surface water data assimilation over the Nile basin https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38482 Mon 29 Apr 2024 15:04:00 AEST ]]> Throughput optimisation in a coal export system with multiple terminals and shared resources https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37403 Mon 29 Apr 2024 14:14:44 AEST ]]> Cognitive insight, medication adherence and methamphetamine cessation in people enrolled in a pharmacotherapy trial for methamphetamine use https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38081 Mon 29 Apr 2024 13:46:22 AEST ]]> The rising role of artificial intelligence in renewable energy development in China https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55204 Mon 29 Apr 2024 12:14:52 AEST ]]> Estimates of spectral wave attenuation in Antarctic sea ice, using model/data inversion https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37966 Mon 20 May 2024 14:39:20 AEST ]]> A continuum mechanics derivation of the empirical expression relating slug and particle velocities https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:48679 Mon 20 May 2024 14:25:38 AEST ]]> Engaging Gen Y customers in online brand communities: a cross-national assessment https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:37940 Mon 20 May 2024 14:18:33 AEST ]]> Development of a flotation recovery model with CFD predicted collision efficiency https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:39151 K₁ for the overall collision efficiency, was found to be optimum at the lower turbulence intensity of 4%. One underpinning assumption in these policy documents is that grain farmers' access to crop insurance for climate-implicated production risks, including drought, would enhance grain farmers' resilience. We argue that the engagement of the White Paper and MFRP documents with resilience is superficial and substitutes a flawed faux resilience through: (i) articulating particular 'uncontrollable' threats to which farmers must be resilient; (ii) unburdening government from any substantive responsibility to mitigate these same threats, and; (iii) specifying normative prescriptions for how farmers should enact resilience. Rather than discarding the resilience concept entirely, we look again to foundational theoretical scholarship and bring attention anew to the critical role productive novelty plays in resilience. We suggest that in agricultural contexts, productive novelty is analogous to on-farm tinkering; we further argue that policy frameworks which support farmers' own generative capacity for productive novelty, i.e. creating space for farmers to tinker, may prove a more promising way to foster farmers' resilience.]]> Mon 13 May 2024 11:58:29 AEST ]]> Developmental vitamin D-deficiency increases the expression of microRNAs involved in dopamine neuron development https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:51346 Mon 13 May 2024 11:56:39 AEST ]]> Optimisation-based modulation and control of matrix converters: A closed-form solution https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:50524 Mon 13 May 2024 10:44:29 AEST ]]> A Novel Control Strategy for Matrix Converters Based on Transient Power Balance https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:50417 Mon 13 May 2024 10:38:40 AEST ]]> Development of two-dimensional ground models by combining geotechnical and geophysical data https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:48234 Mon 13 May 2024 10:17:21 AEST ]]> An experimental study on the in-plane seismic performance of the confined semi-interlocking masonry system using DIC method https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55261 Mon 06 May 2024 17:05:18 AEST ]]> Recovery and cleaning of fine hydrophobic particles using the Reflux™ Flotation Cell https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38185 Mon 06 May 2024 14:27:36 AEST ]]> A cooperative target-fencing protocol of multiple vehicles https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:38727 Mon 06 May 2024 14:14:39 AEST ]]> Airway and parenchymal transcriptomics in a novel model of asthma and COPD overlap https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:48427 Fri 26 Apr 2024 13:31:04 AEST ]]> Competition under demand uncertainty: The roles of technology and capacity strategy https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55400 Fri 24 May 2024 13:28:58 AEST ]]> Biopolymer as an additive for effective biochar-based rhizobial inoculant https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55395 Fri 24 May 2024 10:41:40 AEST ]]> Older adults preferences for long-term caregivers in China: a discrete choice experiment https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55385 Fri 24 May 2024 10:35:35 AEST ]]> Hydrogeochemical characteristics of groundwater contamination in Guwahati city, Assam, India: Tracing the elemental Threads https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55384 Fri 24 May 2024 10:35:14 AEST ]]> Decentralized energy systems and blockchain technology: Implications for alleviating energy poverty https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55387 Fri 24 May 2024 10:35:05 AEST ]]> Criminal justice transitions among adolescents in Australia: A multi-state model https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55390 Fri 24 May 2024 10:33:28 AEST ]]> Citizen participation dilemmas in water governance: An empirical case of Kumasi, Ghana https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55391 Fri 24 May 2024 10:33:26 AEST ]]> Core function in adults with severe asthma and its relationship with breathing symptoms https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:55351 r > –0.19; P ≤ .03). Results: Percentage of biologic responders (ie, those with a category improvement pre- to post-biologic) varied by domain and increased with greater pre-biologic impairment, increasing from 70.2% to 90.0% for exacerbation rate, 46.3% to 52.3% for asthma control, 31.1% to 58.5% for LTOCS daily dose, and 35.8% to 50.6% for ppFEV1. The proportion of patients having improvement post-biologic tended to be greater for anti–IL-5/5R compared with for anti-IgE for exacerbation, asthma control, and ppFEV1 domains, irrespective of pre-biologic impairment. Conclusion: Our results provide realistic outcome-specific post-biologic expectations for both physicians and patients, will be foundational to inform future work on a multidimensional approach to define and assess biologic responders and response, and may enhance appropriate patient selection for biologic therapies. Our focus was physical activity and nutrition programs for obesity prevention. We identified programs through published literature and searched through publicly available information on the theoretical factors determining sustainment. We reviewed 90 programs and explored intervention characteristics, provider, delivery and process level factors, and the outer environment influences. Programs were sustained on average 15 years and more frequently characterised as behavioural change skills programs targeting children, funded by non-government organisations and delivered by community organisations. Most programs had undergone some modification (n = 55). Differences between programs were observed across key factors: Programs sustained 15+ years were mainly behaviour skills programs (n = 21); and characterised by interactive designs (i.e., face-to-face or digital) over static innovations (i.e., print material) compared with those sustained <15 years (p = 0.024). While government funding supported many of the programs (n = 45;), those sustained 15+ years were more likely to have been commercially funded (p = 0.044); and were less likely to have current community involvement (p = 0.013). Differences in ownership and funding were also observed across countries. While multiple factors may influence program sustainment, longer delivered programs where distinguished by their program characteristics and outer contextual factors, suggesting such factors may have an important role in sustaining programs in the longer-term.]]> Fri 03 May 2024 09:39:45 AEST ]]>
